Boot Out Breast Cancer was launched in 2010 by Debbie Dowie following her own experience with Breast Cancer. The charity aims to raise vital funds to buy diagnostic equipment for NHS reatment centres.
Sarah Storey was announced as patron, alongside Alan Shearer at the charity’s first fundraising event, the Bollywood Ball, in November 2010.
In 2014, Barney and Sarah set up a women’s cycling team that would ride for Boot Out Breast Cancer and take the vision of the charity around the UK. Having raised in excess of £400k for North West based centres during the first 3 years of the charity, 2014 marked the time to take the message of early diagnosis around the UK. With nine riders on the team, led by Sarah and managed by Barney, the team races in key National and International events.
